Merino Wool Socks

Merino wool socks are great for hiking, skiing, and other activities, or just relaxing.

Merino wool socks are a favorite with cyclists but they are also comfortable and practical enough for everyday wear. These soft, New Zealand wool socks will give comfort for the feet because they feel so good against your skin, but they also allow the feet to breath so that they do not become overheated. If you like to wear stylish clothing these are very stylish in their design and look as good as they feel on your feet. They give you design, style and superb quality.

Merino wool socks made for cycling contain three different kinds of fiber, all mixed together. They are seventy five percent New Zealand wool, from merino sheep and this gives warmth and gives a wicking effect which actually takes the moisture away from your feet as they sweat. This fibre also has anti bacterial quality and it has a built in odor resistance.

Nylon is added to the wool mix to make these merino wool socks hard wearing and elastane is woven in to give a really close fit that is anatomically correct and follows the shape of the foot.

The toe seams on these merino wool socks are hand linked together so that there is no ridge. Socks with stitched toe seams will rub and put undue pressure on the under side of the foot causing pain. They may also cause pain across the toes where the shoe presses on that ridge.

Merino wool socks are not big and thick and bulky so they will go under your normal shoes, or cycling shoes, without your having to buy a bigger pair of shoes. Some thick socks require half a size larger in a shoe to fit properly and this can end up being quite expensive. The merino wool socks which are made especially for cycling make a comfortable and stylish everyday sock too.

Merino wool socks also come in a special variety made just for hiking. Cushioned boot socks in soft new Zealand merino wool give good protection all around the foot. They have thick, dense padding under the foot and elastic woven into the fabric where the arch of the foot goes, in order to stop the sock from moving around inside the hiking boot. Because merino wool socks wick moisture away from the skin on the feet, the feet stay dry and comfortable and do not start feeling sore from pressure and rubbing. So, the actual temperature of the foot is regulated and it does not cause discomfort by overheating, or get too cold.

There is also a ribbed part at the ankle which stops the merino wool socks from slipping down and the toe seam is practically invisible and certainly cannot be felt, so it will not cause discomfort around the toes. Whatever your sport there are merino wool socks to suit your requirements, or wear them for style and comfort as everyday socks. The range of designs and color choices is quite large, so there is something to suit everyone.
